In February 2006, the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (the “Committee) released an updated version of “Enhancing Corporate Governance for Banking Organizations.” In this release, the Committee endorses eight key principles that it believes underlie good corporate governance. It also offers guidance on the role that regulators can and should plan in promoting good corporate governance in the companies they supervise.
“Changes to FDICIA Requirements Give Midsized Banks a Break”
Even before the enactment of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, financial institutions have complied with government regulations requiring reporting of internal controls over financial reporting. These include complying with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Improvement Act of 1991 (FDICIA). This article highlights recent amendments the FDIC has implemented to this regulation.
