Last month, the U.K. Parliament passed the country's first major overhaul of its anti-corruption laws in more than a century, putting companies operating in the United Kingdom under very stringent anti-corruption regulation and going even further than the requirements set down by the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act in the United States. This so-called Bribery Act introduces a new offense that makes corporations operating in the United Kingdom automatically liable for bribes paid on their behalf.
