‘‘Data governance’’ can be defined as the practices involved to effectively manage all classes of enterprise data from creation through disposal. The various roles in data governance include steward, owner, user and data manager. The data life cycle is composed of five phases: create/receive, distribute, use, maintain, and dispose. Data management activities include data assessment, data classification review, policy and process refinement, and identity and access management review.
