A Different Front in the COVID-19 Outbreak: Information Security

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and the United Kingdom’s National Cyber Security Centre have issued a joint alert reflecting a surge of “COVID-19 related themes by malicious cyber actors.” As the world faces the medical concerns associated with COVID-19 and moves home to work, health care workers not on the front line — those in administration and information technology — feel a different pressure.

This article explores some of the IT factors that administrative and IT health care workers must focus on throughout the pandemic, including vulnerability management, identity and access management, and security awareness.
