How to Write a Confidentiality Policy: Three Sample Templates

A confidentiality policy outlines how an organization will protect the confidential information of its customers, employees and stakeholders. 

This tool provides you with three sample confidentiality policies that you can use to improve or develop the confidentiality policy for your organization. 

In these samples, confidential information includes all information not publicly announced that could reasonably affect the market price of the company’s stock if it were disclosed to the public. It is defined as the type of information or technical data that would give the company a competitive edge in the marketplace and, if released without authorization, could result in harmful consequences. Examples of such information include expected financial results, new product announcements of a significant nature, significant product defects or modifications, material pricing changes, stock splits, new equity or debt offerings, acquisitions, significant litigation exposure, and changes in dividend policy.
