This flowchart defines the steps for dependents healthcare process. Sample steps include: BOD/Benefits Committee determine if the plan will be fully-insured or self-insured, BOD/legal counsel determine if health plan is governed by ERISA, the plan governed by ERISA, if yes then the BOD/legal counsel document and approve definition of dependent and benefits offered to dependents, BOD/legal counsel must approve the plans for compliance with ERISA and any applicable state or local laws, and the organization communicates plan to employees and dependents; if no then BOD/Benefit committee document and approve definition of dependent and benefits offered to dependents, non-discrimination policy and training program are communicated to employees, BOD develop and approve a non-discrimination policy and/or diversity training program, BOD/legal counsel must approve plan’s compliance with applicable state and local laws. This document should be used as a general guide to understand and review this business process.
