Journal Entry Review Planning Memo

This sample memo includes a review of policies, procedures and internal controls currently in place regarding the processing and review of journal entries as well as the closing process. In addition, the scope includes an assessment of the completeness and effectiveness of the current processes associated with journal entries.

The objectives include: to review and document the journal entries processes and systems; review and document the closing process; assess technology system limitations; evaluate the associated risk and controls of the journal entries process; and assess root cause of identified limitations and inefficiencies in the journal entries process.
