Patient admission is accomplished by performing a clinical patient evaluation prior to admission; performing a financial patient evaluation or insurance benefits verification and obtaining pre-certification/pre-authorization prior to or immediately following an admission; identifying and collecting the patient’s payment responsibility prior to admission; providing the patient with financial counseling, as needed; and measuring/reporting performance standards related to the tasks mentioned above for admission employees.
