Options Under the Microscope: Review of Stock Option Allocations

This sample report can be used by internal audit to conduct reviews of an organization's stock option process and activities.

Steps in the review process include reviewing existing stock option process documentation, including associated risk and control matrices; reviewing existing process documentation, including policies and procedures, to gain an understanding of the current process; providing a gap analysis on control issues identified; and assessing the extent of testing performed for stock option-related controls for certain fiscal years, based on documentation available from the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) team.
